Edinburgh’s acclaimed chamber choir Cadenza returns to Greyfriars Kirk and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with an evening of powerful and contemplative choral music.
Our programme brings together three extraordinary works:
Sergei Rachmaninoff — All-Night Vigil
A landmark of choral writing, celebrated for its warmth, depth, and glowing harmony.
Johannes Brahms — Alto Rhapsody
A dramatic and heartfelt work for alto soloist, men’s chorus, and orchestra.
Lili Boulanger — Vieille Prière Bouddhique
A radiant setting of a Buddhist prayer for universal peace, written with striking colour and clarity, in a new arrangement for women’s choir.
Together, these pieces create a journey from darkness to light — a concert of reflection, compassion, and hope.
Led by Musical Director Timothy Coleman, Cadenza blends vitality, passion, and rich vocal colour in performances that consistently impress Fringe audiences and critics alike.
Cara Blaikie — Alto
Iain Milne — Tenor
Morley Whitehead — Piano
