Cadenza performs concerts on behalf of charities as part of our choir year. These typically take place in Spring, and allow us to show off a lighter side of our repertoire while raising funds for deserving causes. 2019 was no exception, and across two concerts – one in Edinburgh, the other in Athelstaneford in East Lothian – we raised over £2000 split across four separate charities. If you’d like Cadenza to make a real impact to your fundraising, please get in touch!
In May, the choir was delighted to be invited to perform in the same church that we rehearse in – Broughton St Mary’s in Edinburgh. Bethany Christian Trust works to improve the lives of homeless people by providing tailored support and community development, as well as supporting individuals and families through tough times. Music for All provides free-of-charge ‘Learn to Play’ sessions across Scotland and the UK, enabling access to musical instruments and tuition to everyone. An appreciative (and generous) audience enjoyed a great concert and helped raise over £1100 which was split equally between these two great causes.
At the beginning of June, Cadenza performed at Athelstaneford in East Lothian. A particular favourite venue of ours, we were pleased to be able to benefit two charities again. Christian Aid works to end poverty across the world, working to identify where it exists and funding practical solutions to end it. Athelstaneford Parish Church works at the heart of the community, hosting regular events and a Fair Trade products stall. In total, £1170 was raised which again was split equally between the two charities.
